Home Education Dr. Tom Shannon Promising Scientist Award

The deadline for the Dr. Tom Shannon Promising Scientis Award has been extended to the 15th of May.

The Dr. Tom Shannon Promising Scientist Award is introduced to acknowledge those early in their career who have performed research that has had a significant impact in the field of movement analysis. It entails a certificate and an award of 1000 GBP. This award money should be used for scientific purposes, such as attending a next year’s conference, visiting another research group, buying research equipment, or funding open-access publications. Furthermore, the awardee will receive a free ESMAC membership for one year.
The competition is held each year in which there is an Annual ESMAC meeting. The winner of the award is expected to give a 1-minute teaser at the ESMAC congress in the same year and an ESMAC ECN webinar presentation (scheduled soon after the congress) on the recent studies and research vision that have contributed to the award. Priority will be given to young scientists with more independent careers.

To be eligible for the award, a candidate should:
(1) be a member of ESMAC in good standing;
(2) be within 7 years after their Ph.D. graduation (or equivalent) at the time of the Annual Meeting (in justified cases this is prolonged to 8 years, including industry, clinical, documented parental, compassionate, and sick leave).
Each candidate should submit:
1) a cover letter* of maximum two pages;
2) their curriculum vitae of maximum five pages;
3) a copy of the PhD diploma (or equivalent);
